The music on Mama Dance isn’t bought but licensed to use in your production. Each new project/video/advertisement/film will require a new licence.
How do licence fees work?
Licence fees are based on several factors including who your production is being viewed by, how long they will have access to it and the type of production. We are CAPASSO members and use the CAPASSO rate card to calculate the appropriate licence fees.
Do you offer a subscription?
Mama Dance is composer-friendly, and we share all the income we receive with our composers. Subscription models generally negatively impact composers as their rights are either bought out or their income is greatly reduced through blanket payments.
CAPASSO can offer blanket licence agreements to select clients which are similar to subscriptions but allow for composers to receive the royalties due to them.
Can I get a licence agreement?

Is your music available on TikTok?

Are your licence fees negotiable?
While we use the CAPASSO rates to ensure a fair value for our music, we understand that every project and budget is different. We are happy to discuss licence fees that are fair for all parties.
I’m not in South Africa, can I still use your music?
If you are based in Africa, you can use our music, but for international users we would need to put you in contact with our licensing partners in your country.
How do I pay the licence fees?
Once your project is finalized and before it is uploaded or broadcast, reach out to us. We will send you a quote and on approval an invoice. Payments can be made into our bank account via EFT. We can also send you a link for credit card payments or our PayPal info if you prefer that method.
Do I need to pay royalties every time my ad is played with licensed music?
No. There are royalties that accrue when a production containing music is broadcast or streamed, but the broadcaster or streaming service is responsible for those royalties (in technical terms, performance royalties). You are only responsible for the licence fee that is paid when the production is created (in technical terms, a synchronisation licence).
Can I get a track adjusted to fit my project e.g. removing an instrument?
We try to provide our music in a way where no adjustment is needed e.g. No Vocal, Stripped, Alt versions etc. We also have stems for most tracks available on request (stems are the individuals instruments you hear in a track). If none of these options work, our composers can make adjustments but charge for their time.
